Westerly made headlines when the Denver Business Journal reported on the Erie Town Council’s approval of a rezoning for North Westerly, the 391-acre expansion of the community. In a move described as a rarity in development, Southern Land voluntarily reduced the maximum residential density on that parcel from 4,266 units to 2,146, a decision rooted in the company’s commitment to walkability, housing diversity, and intentional community building. The expansion will bring more than 50 acres of dedicated parks and open space, more than seven miles of new trails connecting to Westerly’s existing network, a second amenity center, and up to 15,000 square feet of commercial space within a designated village.
